TORCH LAKE CAFÉ RAISES NEARLY FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR THE SALVATION ARMY HURRICANE RELIEF FUND
October 30, 2017, Central Lake, MI- The Torch Lake Café reached out to The Salvation Army Petoskey Corps to host a fundraiser on Sunday, October 15, 2017 that raised nearly $4,000 to help hurricane victims in multiple locations. One hundred percent of the money raised went directly into The Salvation Army USA’s Hurricane Relief Fund which helps provide food, shelter, clothing, clean-up kits, comfort kits, spiritual and emotional care and many other needs to hurricane victims.
Manager Maggie Antcliff said “The Torch Lake Cafe would like to thank the Salvation Army, all of our sponsors, volunteers, and most importantly the guests who came out and ate and drank and donated for a great cause! Nearly $4000 was raised that went directly to the hardest hit hurricane areas. When disaster strikes, great people come together and accomplish great things”.
Long after the clean-up crews have gone, many victims who lose their homes and livelihood need assistance with food, shelter and utilities while searching for housing and employment. This process could take many months to a year after a large disaster and The Salvation Army will be there to see them through it thanks to the generosity of many caring people and businesses like The Torch Lake Café.
